Counselling
Counselling is a therapeutic relationship that facilitates self- knowledge, emotional
acceptance and growth and the optimal development of personal resources. The overall aim is to provide
an opportunity to work towards living more satisfyingly and resourcefully. Counselling relationships will
vary according to need but may be concerned with developmental issues, addressing and resolving
specific problems, making decisions, coping with crisis, developing personal insights and knowledge,
working through feelings of inner conflict or improving relationships with others.
Counselling covers a range of talking therapies
Counselling can help people to talk to each other about many issues including their feelings, identity issues and think about their choices or behaviours which at times can stop an individual fulfilling their own potential and goals.
Counselling can be the first step that enables us to grow, develop and make the changes we seek to make in our everyday lives.
A Professional Counsellor is a highly trained individual who is able to use a different range of counselling approaches with their client. It is a process that occurs when a client and counsellor meet in a safe and confidential environment to explore difficult, stressful or emotional feelings that a client may be experiencing.
